For some reason I absolutely love seeing this guy – whom I respect greatly – someone who never complains about the situations he’s put in, getingt (rightfully) angry at airport security.
that is ridiculous, that same airport DEPORTED my nephew back to the states, the went through everything of his, letters and even took his small plactice MT Rainer pocket knife. they interrogated him for hours. gees. take care man:)
God could you imagine if YOU gave good service on an airplane…it would cause chaos…people would expect good service all the time…and the airlines can’t afford to have that
I’m so sorry Les. It’s wonderful that you can maintain your sense of humour after something like that. I’m certain that what you collect when you travel is carefully selected for quality, personal meaning, and authenticity. It is very unpleasant to have one’s personal possessions unceremoniously dumped out and poked through by uncaring strangers, to be treated with suspicion and disrespect when you’ve done nothing wrong, and to have something taken from you when clearly you’ve not violated any rules. That has happened to me too. I think it is quite generous of you to believe that they throw out all of the stuff they confiscate. I am not so generous. I think some of it ends up in their pockets and in their homes. You are a wonderful man Les. Certainly a person who can be trusted. I can only pray for your safety, health, and happiness, and I do, always.
Oh right, as if Les Stroud is going to use a pie lifter to hijack a plane lol. You would think, of all people, they could make an exception for Les Stroud. That’s just ridiculous.
In all of your travels and adventures did you ever think you’d get busted by the pie-lifter police? Thanks for the heads-up. Hope the rest of your travel went better.

Ya know, it’s bad enough we all have to take our shoes off and walk on the same cruddy rubber mat. A pie lifter? WTF? I’ve heard they don’t really throw that stuff away. They sell it on Ebay. So don’t be surprised if you find your oh so deadly pie lifer with bone handle up for bid. It’s great you can keep your sense of humor about it. I tend to fume a bit but it doesn’t do any good. Just negative energy which is not good for anyone. But yes, I agree, it’s gotten out of hand and I hope something can be done about it.

Thanks for the tunes and updates, etc. but my favs are the rants! More please. lol
I miss the excitment of waiting on a new Surviorman episode every week, but it looks as if things are going well for you and yours. When I get too blue, I just plug in the DVD or queue up some of your tunes on my mp3 player, or visit your blog!
