Thank you Les for all the great shows that you have made. I still watch episodes of Survivorman over and over again. One of the reasons that I like survivorman is the beauty of the locations that you film. Have you ever considered just filming the unique location that the world has place just out of reach of most of us. Take a small group and visit a remote out of the way place and tell us about its uniqueness. Survivorman has taken me to place that I never knew existed and could only dream about visiting after seeing your show. Again Thank You Ben Burgess I am the guy that gave you the calendar in Vegas.
You are awesome Les!!! I love the fact that you only have a knife and cameras(and some times corn chips!!!) I love what you do! Man i wish i could do what you can. i’ve already read your book and plan to over and over. Keep it up!
P.s. Canada is amazing i’m in Ancaster(hamilton)
Can you recommend a good external microphone for my Sony HD camera? I play the didjeridu and am wanting to record myself playing and others especially when traveling and usually outside preferably around a campfire with friends old and new! nOt as easy to carry around as a harmonica.
Any suggestions would be great. Shotgun?
Thanks!
John
Les uses a combination of lavalier mics and on camera mics to record himself in the field. depending on the camera you might be better off going with the on Camera mic to do a general recording of every one playing in a group situation. Shotgun mics could be a bit tricky especially if every one is playing around a camp fire. Lavalier mics would work the best but it would only work for recording within a certain proximity and will work better on only one intrument. What kind of Camera are you looking into getting?

what camera does les use on his adventures? i can imagine they are very compact HDD-type cameras? mini DV maybe? if les could recommend a camera to use out when camping or hiking or even mountain biking…what would it be?

For the Video Blogs Les uses the Sony SR12. This camera works well for what Les does. One thing we would recomend for camping or hiking is something a little more compact. For example the Sony TG5V is fantastic for on the trail as it is small and has no moving parts.
A word of caution though as being in the wild can take its toll on your equipment. For this reason look into some rugged waterproof products.
les i watch your show as often as i can its fun watching you go to all these remote places and surviving on nothing but what nature supplies for you me and a group of friends when we were younger we would do something similar to you we would go out in the mountaines around my home town of Richfield Utah for about two weeks or so and try to survive on nothing but the land also it was one of the best and most fun experiences i have ever done so when i saw your show for the first time i was hooked i only wish i could keep doing it like you but im alot older now and have a family to take care of… hope to see more fun in your new episodes coming up GOOD LUCK and god be with you in your journeys your always loyal fan DAN ROBERTS
Les I was wondering what type of camcorder you would recommend for a beginner nature cinematographer?
