Canadian Premiere for Season 3 of Survivorman – Monday January 12th 2009

Canada's favourite adventurer returns to OLN when the third season of Survivorman, starring Les Stroud, premieres this Monday January 12th 2009 at 8PM(ET). After risking life and limb throughout the first two seasons, Stroud turns it up a notch in some of the most perilous locations on the planet. Each episode of the series follows Stroud as he struggles to stay alive in the harshest of conditions. He has the advantage of his trusty multi-tool, but must lug around 23 kilograms of camera equipment at all times to document his adventure. With little water and sometimes no food to sustain himself, the most unappetizing creatures and plants become gourmet meals. Stroud must use his wits and improvise if he wants to get out alive. *An OLN Original Series *

Huge fan of Les. Major fan of Survivorman. However, I watched season 3 in the Us and at the end of episode 5 or so, Les stated that was the end of Survivorman. Monstrous dissapointment. I can’t fault Les for ending the show as he puts himself in harms way for each episode. I would just like to see him host something, I thougth the Surviving Alaska was pretty cool. I would watch nearly any survivor show if Les is the host.

    My 2 cents

  2. Lois Lara says:

Is Les’s show on in the US stations now? I have not been able to find it this year.

I truly injoy his show as it is truly educational and not grandstanding like another on I could name. Les teaches techniques that could save someones life.

    Thanks,

    Lois

Wish Les would do another season of survivorman I can’t tell you how cool that show is.

  4. Mike Eakins says:

I do hope Les would get to see these comments. I want him to know how much he is appreciated around the world! My 13 year old son Cody loves watching also! as do my my wie and I. Not since Steve Irwin died have we had a show we watched as a family and not only enjoyed what we where watching but also learned something from it too! Hey, take all the food and water you need with you and take a crew of one or two if you want. Les as long as it is you teaching us on location we would rather have you safe and healthy first and foremost! We cannot stand the other strutting peacock who tries to mimic you. Please come back and teach us! Thanks, Mike

Man, I love every episode Les has provided for us. In addition, I received “Survive” for Christmas. I would love to see him come to Kentucky for an appearance at a bookstore, but also I’d like to see him put his skills to the test in Eastern Kentucky. The Appalachians can make or break you, like most of the other sites he’s visited. This area would be a good challenge for him, and it would be very interesting to see how he goes about making it in these woods. It would be of great benefit to many residents, campers, visitors, etc.

  6. LISA GIBSON says:

I love all the shows that LES has made,me and my husband love to watch even the reruns he shows us all the ways we can survive if we were put to the test and me and my husband love the outdoors we love to travel and go camping and we did’nt elize what could happen if we were to ever get lost but we do now Thanks to LES and his shows. I hope that we see more of LES back on the big scren. We are your biggest fans ever. Just want to say Thanks to LES and all the help he has show us! The Gibsons

  7. Amy Williams says:

I absolutely love this show and pretty much anything Les does. I NEVER miss survivorman! I’ve just discovered “Living off the Grid” and I think its really cool especially how Les has included his wife and children—–would like to see more! There are very few shows that I can watch with my children (without sending them out of the room a hundred times!) and I know anything he does is “safe” viewing. If you are new and just checking this site out, I whole heartly recommend anything with Les’s name on it. Thanks! Amy

    Good Morning,

My husband and I love this program, what station does it come on now here in Cleveland, Ohio, we use to watch it on channel 54.
we miss it!!!!. Les’s show is educational, exciting and just great, if I’m ever in the situation of possibly being lost, I believe very strongly that I could and would survive, because of Les Stroud’s teachings….Thank for listening… oops (reading).

    Have a Great Day!!
    Moni

  9. Just finished watching Les in Papua New Ginea and I heard him say toward the end that this is the end of Survivorman. I really enjoy the episodes as it is one of the few shows I can watch with my 10 year old and trust that it is family friendly. Hate to see him go but sure do appreciate his adventures and sacrifices for all of our benefit! Good luck Les!

  10. ismail topaz says:

I really enjoy this program. ı find it very exciting and usefull, especially who enjoys from travelling and adventures ,It is very grieffull to miss it.

  11. Chris says:

Les is the man!! All of my friends are big fans and we all watch Survivorman, reruns or not! Hope to see something from you in the States in the near future Les!!

  12. Gary A says:

Wow I was disappointed when Les said that was his last show. The hard work required to film that show by himself was impressive. Great camera work. The British guys show is ok but who always jumps into cold water and puts themselves in danger when you are truly trying to survive. You can do that with a big crew following you around. Great job Les. Please come back with a new show soon. Don’t blame you for taking some time off. You deserve it. Thanks!

  13. kellen says:

great show would love to see another season of survivorman. I have learned a lot of things from this show

  14. Paul says:

Thank God for your decision to stop the show; it just even proof another side of you: a humble attitude before Mother Nature. A man who ‘knows your limitation’, as Roskeley put it. It’s a rare quality. You are the man to follow inside out (those Everest conquistadores impress me alot, but I hate the ego attitudes of some. I mean, if you’re unable to carry your empty oxygen tube down, then stay home until you can go down in history as the first who summit the Everest using a special chopper that can lift up to the last ten feet from the peak).

But please don’t stop teaching, Les. Even if it’s performed indoors. You’ve proven enough. Don’t buy into ‘challenges’ posed by those who want to put you like in-vivo experiments from the comfort of their living room. I hate to see you got hurt, man; that’s all.

  15. We love you Les…please reconsider your decision to end Survivorman. I don’t think anyone on here really cares if you have a film crew with you or not, we just love your take on nature. Hell, watching your show has made me buy a mountain bike and start hiking again. I’m also reading Field Guides and other nature-related information. You can’t quit now!!!

  16. BILLY FROM GEORGIA says:

Les, Suvivorman is the coolest show. I hate to see it go. I hope the new show happens soon, can’t wait to see it. Lots of luck Survivorman!

  17. Alf B. says:

Huge fan from the cold of Norway.
Just want to add to the replies of others here, thanks a million for all the great episodes and loads of information and things to learn.
Take a good rest, hydrate, and please come back to teach us more.

  18. Yes THANK YOU! Awesome show and I like many others am very said to see Survivorman come to an end! By far one of my favorite shows of my life. As a photographer I had great understanding and respect for all the extra effort filming everything on your own lugging gear, having to back track to sometimes several cameras after getting a “walking away” shot.

Anyway I hope we see you again sharing your knowledge in such an entertaining way. As GAry A says – take a couple of guys with you…

Always a fan and will watch every rerun for as long as they show them – should check the site and see if I can buy by the season?!

    Thanks again!

    John

  19. Rebecca says:

What fun it has been to watch the Survivorman program for the past few years. The whole family has enjoyed it together including my 5 year old daughter. It is such a pleasure to see someone real. I can’t bear to watch Bear Grylls, who is nothing more than a showman with a big entourage in tow to do his filming and take care of him.

Les, you are the real thing. Good luck with your future endeavors.

  20. Jena says:

I had no idea that Les was going stop producing Survivor Man. Les, thank you for teaching us ways to survive, although, I just felt so bad for you when you would go sometmes without food. God Bless you and your family.

  21. Hi Les im Émilie Turner Im a really big fan.Im from Kingston andIm 10 years old.I love your tv show and i have your book.I can not wait until season 3 starts and do not be shy to email me back.

  22. Erick Lee says:

Best show on tv…with so much crap on. The show has great content and usable information. I had contemplated many of time going out on a hike with just the bare essentials and you helped me successfully rethink that. I would like to see more Suviorman but I totally understand why you would have had enough.

  23. Alexandr says:

    I think too…
Best and my favorite show show on TV
    Really informative!
Thank you very much for it.

  24. dave/dianna says:

thank you for all YOUR struggles and hunger you’ve brought us hours of enjoyment. looking forward to your new show/shows.

    LES,YOU ARE THE MAN!

  25. Dave says:

Les, near the end of the Paupa New Guinea show you said something about ending Survivorman and “taking the next step beyond” or something to that effect. I’m really hoping that that’s a teaser for another show.
I don’t usually publicly proclaim being a fan of anyone or anything, but I admit that I am a fan, as far back as Snowshoes and Solitudes. As a proud Canadian, your inherent “Canadian-ness” is great….no showboating or grandstanding.
I have spent a lot of time over the years in the Alberta Rockies, often alone and in all 4 seasons, and I’ve really loved watching Survivorman, as well as your book Survive.
All the best to you, Sue and your family.
    Stay safe.

  26. WOW Les… so sorry to see you go.
My daughter and I will miss you.
Loved your show, waited intently every Monday to watch,
    go luck in your future.

Les was the original, theres to many copy cats now. They dont even compare to your quality in the least. Miss You in Canada Les…cheers!

  28. Debbie B says:

Les, sorry to see the show go — but you want to look after yourself, guy! Best of luck in all that you do, and as you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never point your way.

  29. Adrian says:

    Hi Les,

I would like to thank you for the 3 great seasons of Survivorman, you are truely talented in many ways. It would be great to have 5 seasons of Survivorman, But I respect your decision. *I’m proud to say we both went to the same College. Like all of them, I can’t wait to buy Season 3 on DVD. Thanks!

  30. johnny says:

So that Papa New Guini show was the last. . . . just found that out at the end of the show. Love the show. Makes all the crazy work I do pale. Ironically the first time I watched the show was in Sante Fe New Mexico. I was glued to the TV laughing at you and missed parts of a meeting. When I saw the show for the second time – back north of the border – I still laughed but understood what you were doing.

Thanks a Bunch dude. Sure the kids will love your new gig, this also marks the first time I am thanking a TV host.

  31. Tony says:

Hey Les I picked up youre book SURVIVE! What a great read I’m 90% done and wanted to know if you could recomend another, most survival books I’ve read are as dry as burnt toast and about as interesting but yours I cant put down. Best of luck in your futher adventures and thanks for all the knoledge you gave me. Cheers!

  32. KrisBelucci says:

Great post! Just wanted to let you know you have a new subscriber- me!

  33. Rich says:

Wish Les would do a new season too. Best show of it’s genre. Miss seeing Les in US.

  34. Cliff says:

Love the show and was, like everyone else, sad to see it end. I hope you’ve got something planed for the future? I just watched “Snowshoes and Solitude” liked it a lot! Anyway, cheers on your long run of success hope to see more!

  35. Ry says:

Show is a great inspiration to everyone: myself as a 14 year old kid has applied for Season 2 of Les’ new show: Survive This. The wilderness is a great place to enjoy yourself and learn about the places that this planet offers. Great job Les! :)

  36. Vlad Tepes says:

I hope Les is coming back with another Season of Survivorman.
Try Europe Les, there are some wild and nice places also, like Iceland or Russia (Siberia) , I don’t know, just do some more Les, you are amazing. You didn’t even finished the whole USA so u can’t quit now, there are lots of new places waiting for survive, is just awesome to see the wilderness from the show’s perspective .
It doesn’t really matter if you have camera crew with you as long we can see u ..or at least enough food/water.
Greetings, a fan from Romania !

  37. Gerry Buck says:

Great show Les. Just as I discovered Survivorman and became hooked, I saw the last episode of Season 3 and to my horror learned it would be the series finale. Your show is truly unique and I will miss watching your survival adventures. Please reconsider and continue the show for your growing legions of loyal fans. I even had a local artisan fabricate the Survivorman logo into a sheet metal statue…it’s the pride of my backyard!!!
